The most recent cover of Newsweek features an article entitled “Hit the Road, Barack – Why We Need a New President”. Considering that Newsweek is an established member of the liberal mainstream media, it is a truly startling and remarkable cover, as is the related article by Niall Ferguson. Mr. Ferguson’s article goes into great detail laying out the failures of Obama and his administration, the economic woes plaguing the country and, in particular, the article discusses the Obama failures in foreign policy and puts the blame for America’s diminished role in the world squarely on the shoulders of Barack Obama.
To most conservatives and Republicans, this Newsweek article represents a refreshing change of heart from a well known liberal oriented publication and gives them some hope that other entities within the liberal media will eventually come around to the same conclusion. This may well happen, and I hope it does, but maybe we should step back and think about just why all of these bad things are happening to America over such a relatively short period of time. Is this all due to the incompetence of Barack Obama or the failure of his liberal policies? Is America’s declining role in the world something that was always inevitable or has it been given an added push by Barack Obama and his administration?
In a conversation with Larry Kudlow on a recent CNBC Kudlow Report broadcast, one of the brightest conservative thinkers on the political scene today, Dinesh D’Souza had an entirely different view about Niall Ferguson’s Newsweek article and its basic premise. The premise of the Newsweek article is that Obama is incompetent and his policies are clearly wrong and, as a result, America is on the decline. Dinesh D’Souza believes that there is a different explanation. According to Mr. D’Souza, Obama’s failures are not really failures at all. Obama’s actions and policies are driven totally by a desire to reduce America’s power in the world and to redistribute America’s wealth to the poorer countries and areas around the world. According to this theory, Obama didn’t fail at all. He is succeeding in reducing the power and influence of America by seeing its economy weakened and by deliberately implementing policies which strengthen the Islamic countries in the Middle East.
For those who don’t know him, Dinesh D’Souza is a bestselling author, a prominent conservative voice in American politics and the president of King’s College in New York City. D’Souza was born in India and was raised as a Catholic. He is now an Evangelical Christian and writes and debates extensively about his Christian faith. He also served as a policy advisor to President Ronald Reagan and is a notable critic of atheism. He is an impressive thinker and writer and not some far right conspiracy theorist.
When one looks into the history of Barack Obama, it’s not that far-fetched or implausible to accept the idea that much of Obama policies are directed towards the weakening of America. Obama, from his earliest days, was brought up and steeped in communist ideology from family, mentors, college professors, and extreme left wing friends. One of his earliest mentors was Frank Marshall Davis, an avowed communist and there were other important communist influencers in his life, notably the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and the terrorist Bill Ayers.
One also has to question why Obama has tried to cover up his college activities at Occidental College, Columbia and Harvard. Obama has spent millions in attempting to cover up his grades and activities at these institutions. An important question that has never been adequately addressed is who funded Obama to attend these Institutions? At the time he was listed as a foreign exchange student from Indonesia whose name was Barry Soetero. Isn’t it strange that no one seems to remember anything about Obama or his activities at these institutions? Wayne Allen Root, a former VP Candidate on the Libertarian ticket, was a classmate of Obama’s at Columbia in 1983 and actually never met or saw him. What was Obama doing and where was he during that time?
To be fair to Dinesh D’Souza, he states that Obama’s wish to diminish America and redistribute its wealth to others comes from a fundamental Obama ideology that it is the right thing to do for America and the world. I do not share that view. I have come to the conclusion long ago that Obama’s miraculous rise to power was not all due to chance, and that this rise to power was aided and abetted by outside influences hostile to the interests of the United States. Until we find out more about Obama’s college records and who paid for his extensive college and university activities, we will never know.
It’s unlikely that the Romney-Ryan campaign can ever bring any of this to light. However, I would hope that Mr. D’Souza and others will continue to cast doubt about Obama and his vision for a weakened America. It’s time for all Republicans, conservatives and libertarians everywhere to put aside their differences and come together to get behind the Romney-Ryan ticket in November. The future of America depends upon it.
